Following EU agreement on the reform of the Common Agriculture Policy ( CAP), the Single Farm Payment Scheme ( SFPS) was introduced on 1st January 2005

replacing the direct production-related support schemes. The schemes being replaced are:

Arable Areas Payment Scheme ( AAPS), Beef Special Premium Scheme ( BSPS), Dried Fodder Scheme, Extensification Payment Scheme,

Seed Production Aid, Sheep Annual Premium Scheme ( SAPS - including the Veal Calf Premium Scheme) and Suckler Cow Premium Scheme ( SCPS).
