Digital Switchover

Digital Switchover

The digital switchover is UK Government policy. It will mean that almost everyone will be able to receive digital TV through an aerial (Freeview). When digital switchover occurs, the analogue television that currently broadcasts will be swtiched off and a digital signal will replace it.

Scotland will be switched over between 2010 and 2011. The STV North area will be switched over in stages during 2010, with the STV South area switching over in 2011. A range of services are being provided to help people with switchover, including assistance for older people and people with a disability. Digital UK has been set-up to co-ordinate the process of switchover and to provide advice and help to all television viewers.
