Market Context Material

Discussion PapersHousing Need and Demand Assessments are produced using a wide range of evidence. In the main, this evidence consists of quantative statistics about various aspects of housing and planning. However, there may be instances where local authorities, and other stakeholders, wish to supplement this with other market context information.

The market context information that will be provided here, may include items such as qualitative research, bespoke statistical analysis or economic information on issues such as affordability, equality, regeneration, housing etc. The CHMA is keen to share such information with its stakeholders, as and when it we become aware of it. We are happy to consider the inclusion any materials produced or sourced by our stakeholders. These should be forwarded to our Mailbox. All sources will be attributed and acknowledged.

Communities Scotland commissioned work to provide an update of affordable housing needs estimates to the year 2001 at a national and local authority area to assist housing strategy development. Due to the timing of the release ofrelevant data and the impending completion of local authorities' Local Housing Strategy (LHS), this work was split into two phases. This report is the result ofthe first phase using existing data sources and making initial projections to2006. The intended use of the output in this phase was to provide a set offigures by which local authorities can compare their own housing needs estimates.
