What is it?
The Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS) provides energy efficiency measures to a large number of Scottish households while delivering emission savings and helping to reduce fuel poverty. It may offer you free loft and cavity wall insulation, depending on where you live. The scheme is delivered by local authorities in conjunction with local delivery partners.
Am I eligible?
The second phase of the scheme is currently available in areas selected and put forward by local authorities, which are also responsible for the administration of the scheme. This will allow free energy efficiency measures to be offered to around 200,000 households. In addition to loft and cavity wall insulation, some of the schemes provide support for harder to treat properties.
In this second phase, local authorities have targeted areas that are most in need of free insulation and other energy efficiency measures. This includes rural and urban communities which have not benefited from previous insulation schemes."
