
Scottish Grocery Retailers' Forum
Retailers are critical to the production and consumption of food and drink. They have significant influence on the food and drink we buy and on the other parts of the food supply chain. The Scottish Government recognises that partnership with retailers is essential if we are to grow the Scottish food and drink sector, to improve diet and reduce Scotland's environmental impact. The Government is also aware of the economic importance of supermarkets and convenience stores in terms of jobs, investment and community development.
The Scottish Grocery Retailers' Forum was set up following the First Minister's Supermarket Summit in September 2008 to take forward work on the National Food and Drink Policy with supermarkets. The Scottish Grocers' Federation was invited to join the group further to the Convenience Store Summit that took place in October 2009.
The Retailers' Charter sets the agenda for the work of the Forum. The Charter was launched at the Royal Highland Show in June 2009 and has been signed by the major grocery retailers operating in Scotland.
The Forum meets every six months and comprises representatives from:

- The Co-operative
- Lidl
- Marks & Spencer
- Morrisons
- Sainsbury's
- Tesco
- Waitrose
