Govcamp

Govcamp Scotland

Govcamp Scotland met for the first time in November 2011 to advance links between academia, private and public sectors and help create a Scotland that takes full advantage of the digital age.

It resulted in the signing of Scotland's Digital Participation Charter which commits signatories to work together to increase digital participation and realise the economic, social and environmental benefits of digital technologies.

DirectScot

DirectScot is a prototype for a proposed Scottish public services and information portal. Its aim is to provide people and businesses with a simpler view of all services available to them.

The prototype has been developed by the Scottish Government to illustrate the range of national and local services and information available through DirectScot and to show some of the proposed functionality.

The prototype is now live at www.directscot.org. Please give us your views.

Digital Scotland

The Scottish Government is developing a co-ordinated and comprehensive approach to ensuring that Scotland is positioned to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital age.

Scotland's Digital Future was published in March 2011.

Scotland's Digital Future: Infrastructure Action Plan was launched on 31 January 2012.

What is 'digital'?

Increasing Digital Participation
Increased participation can improve quality of life, boost economic growth and allow more effective delivery of public services. Along with signatories of Scotland's Digital Participation Charter we are committed to increasing participation rates over the lifetime of the parliament.

Growing a Digital Economy
Digital technologies are an enabler of productivity and a driver of innovation and intenational trade, helping to boost jobs and export income. They are an integral part of Scotland's transition to a low carbon economy.

Delivery of Digital Public Services
Technological change can make significant contributions to both improving outcomes and reducing costs. The public sector in Scotland is committed to realising the opportunities  that technology provides and delivering an increasing proportion of services on line. The Scottish Government has developed DirectScot, an experimental prototype of a public service website for Scotland. A consultation on the DirectScot prototype begins on January 9, 2012 and runs until March 1, 2012.
