One of the actions in Health Works was to develop an outcomes framework and performance management model that would demonstrate links to health improvement, health inequalities and economic development outcomes.
Following collaboration with health and work stakeholders (from local government, health boards, employability organisations, third sector, Trades Unions, business organisations and Scottish Government) we are pleased to confirm that the outcomes framework has now been published and can be accessed on the NHS Health Scotland website at the link below:

The framework sets out the key health and work outcomes required to support working age people in Scotland move towards work, return to, or remain in work and well. It aligns the intended Health Works outcomes with the Scottish Government's National Performance Framework and provides a useful way of untangling the complex health and work agenda and identifying how partners might work together to achieve key outcomes.
The framework is a work in progress and will soon be transferred to a user-friendly interactive website alongside outcomes frameworks that have been developed in other areas. It provides a set of useful tools that can be used to show the contribution of different partners to achieving short-term, intermediate and high level outcomes. We hope the framework will be useful in supporting partners at a local level by pointing them towards effective health and work interventions and are currently working up details of how Scottish Government colleagues and others might be able to assist in this process.
