Recovery Stories

Drugs StrategyDuring the development of The Road to Recovery the Scottish Government worked with and listened to people who had suffered or are suffering from addiction. We listened to the views of people who can really tell you what addiction is like and how difficult it is to overcome. Their views were taken on board in the development of the new strategy.

Journeys to Recovery is a collection of real stories from people who have experienced the pain of addiction. In the stories people tell their own account of what recovery has meant to them, how they have achieved it and the difficulties they encountered on the way. Hearing real stories helps to bring about a realisation that 'recovery' is possible and can be a goal for those suffering from addiction.

We are not saying recovery is easy. It is a stepped process that may have many relapses and barriers to overcome but we look forward to learning from others in the future as we seek ways to tackle our nation's drug problem.
