Businesses in Scotland
As at March 2011, there were 307,770 private sector enterprises operating in Scotland, a 3.3% increase on the previous year. SME's (enterprises with fewer than 250 employees) made up 99% of all enterprises and provided 54% of all jobs and 37% of turnover. However, the 2,230 large enterprises operating in Scotland accounted for 63% of turnover.
