Child Protection
As at 31 July 2011, there were 2,571 children on Child Protection Registers (an increase of 2% compared with the previous year). There were slightly more boys than girls on Child Protection Registers, and 84% of children were under the age of 11 years old (including unborns).
In 2010/11, there were 4,660 initial/pre-birth child protection case conferences. These resulted in 3,551 registrations (74% of all case conferences) on to local child protection registers (compared with 76% in 2009/10).
There were 3,823 de-registrations from local child protection registers in 2010/11 (no change when compared with the previous year).
