Domestic Abuse
There were 51,926 incidents of domestic abuse recorded by the police in 2009-10, compared to 53,931 incidents recorded in 2008-09. This equates to a decrease of 4 per cent from 2008-09. 62 per cent of incidents recorded in 2009-10 led to the recording of a crime or an offence (32,066) and of these, 68 per cent were reported to the procurator fiscal (21,660).
