Concessionary Travel

Transport Scotland is responsible for concessionary travel policy in Scotland

Travel concession schemes in Scotland are operated by the Scottish Government and local authorities. From 1 April 2006 the Scottish Government has provided a national bus travel concession scheme for older and disabled people (Scotland-wide Free Bus Travel Scheme for Older and Disabled People) and from 8 January 2007 has provided a national bus and rail travel concession scheme for young people (National Concessionary Travel Scheme for Young People). Local concession schemes for other modes of transport may be offered by local authorities at their discretion. Individual local authorities and Strathclyde Partnership for Transport can provide information on any travel concession scheme they operate.
