The National Concessionary Travel Scheme for Young People was introduced on 8 January 2007.
The Scheme provides all 16 to 18 year olds and young full time volunteers up to the age of 25, who are resident in Scotland, with one third off the adult single bus fare on local registered buses and long distance scheduled bus journeys throughout Scotland. The scheme also provides a free Scottish Youth Railcard which will give one third off rail tickets (single, return or season tickets) for journeys in Scotland. In addition, eligible young people who are resident on Scottish islands will receive two free return ferry journeys each year to the mainland. These discounts are accessed through a National Entitlement Card.
The scheme is administered by Transport Scotland, the national transport agency for Scotland. Further information and details of how to apply for a National Entitlement Card are available at www.givememycard.org and www.transportscotland.gov.uk/concessionary-travel
