Severe Weather Grant Scheme

In December and January, Scotland experienced some of the coldest weather since records began. Snow is an Satellite image: NEODAAAS/University of Dundeeinevitable part of the Scottish winter and some parts of Scotland are accustomed to bad weather, but the extent of the snow was so exceptional that many farm buildings collapsed under the weight of snow lying on roofs. The Scottish Government set up a working group to analyse and measure the impact of the problem. The working group included representation from the National Farmers Union of Scotland (NFUS), Scottish Rural Property and Business Association (SRPBA), Scottish Tenant Farmers Association (STFA), the Scottish Agricultural College and representation from the UK insurance industry.
